The IPS/ILS Japan Conference in Tokyo, organized by EVA Aviation and TFD Global with support from Phil Williams from Team Defence Information UK, Paul Cramers from ASD in Europe, and the British Embassy, has ended. Kudos go to Kuno-san from EVA Aviation/TFD Japan, Allan Goody, and Shoichi Sugiyama for their hard work. However, the event could not have been possible without the positive support and encouragement from Phil Williams, Managing Director of UK Team Defence Information and Co-chair of the IPS Global Council, Phillipa Arter from TDI, and Paul Cramers of ASD, the European Aerospace & Defence trade body. A big thank you to the Organising Team.

The conference’s second day was focused on the industry’s contribution, with presentations from BAE SYSTEMS, Patria, ILIAS, CDS Defence & Security, Pennant International, PHM, and ASI. The day ended with an extended Q&A and Networking Event, which generated much discussion and debate.

a private session for JMSDF personnel inside Jujo Base

The final event was a private session for JMSDF personnel inside Jujo Base, the HQ for the 3 JSDF Material Commands. This session aimed to provide further briefings and Q&A sessions, particularly for the next generation of officers who will need to learn about ILS.

Overall, the Conference was a great success, with far more attendance, discussion, and debate than expected. Japan has a real thirst to learn about ILS/IPS, PBL, and the S-Series. The organizers hope to arrange another event later this year to coincide with the Japan Aerospace Expo in October. It will be great to see old friends and new members of the growing community.
